Important Alert for Licensed Professionals

August 18, 2026

Attention Licensed Professionals,

The Utah Department of Commerce’s Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL) wants to inform licensees of DOPL impersonators targeting licensed professionals in Utah.

The impersonators are using an email address that appears to be from DOPL, emailing licensees with the subject line of: “DOPL Code Violation Notice ref::#XXXXXX” saying that documents were sent for the licensee to sign, and include a link to send files back to them.

Remember:

• DOPL will NEVER demand money or sensitive information via email to resolve an investigation.

• DOPL will NEVER threaten you with immediate arrest or license suspension via email.

What to do:

• If you receive a suspicious email, DO NOT ENGAGE.

• Do not provide any information.

• You can verify any claims by calling DOPL directly at 801-530-6628.

• IF you happen to provide sensitive information during an encounter like this, the Federal Trade Commission provides recovery steps at reportfraud.ftc.gov.
