The Office of Artificial Intelligence Policy works closely with legislators throughout the year to support thoughtful, effective AI policy. Through ongoing learning agendas, we gather insights from companies, experts, and real-world use cases to better understand emerging issues and opportunities. These insights inform our work with lawmakers, some of which results in enacted legislation, while other ideas help shape future proposals and keep both policymakers and stakeholders informed and aligned.

Mental Health Outcomes

Utah House Bill 452: The Office of AI Policy's first learning agenda focused on the application of artificial intelligence in the field of mental health. Based on our research and stakeholder engagement, the following bill was passed by both the House and Senate. The legislation strengthens consumer protections around data privacy and targeted advertising and creates a safe harbor for the development of novel AI technologies.
