Renewal Requirements
Physician Assistant Renewal Requirements
Physician Assistant license renewals are due May 31st of even years and require the following:
- $133 renewal fee
- One of the following:
- Maintain NCCPA Certification
- 40 CE credit hours as outlined in R156-70a-304
- A minimum of 34 CE hours must be ACCME Category 1
- Complete at least ONE of the following online suicide prevention trainings (these qualify for the CE credit hours above)
Physician Assistants who specialize in mental health care shall complete continuing education required to maintain their CAQ in Psychiatry.
Controlled Substance Renewal Requirements
Controlled Substance licenses renew at the same time as the main license and require the following:
- $78 renewal fee
- 3.5 controlled substance CE credit hours approved by the Division, as required by Utah Code 58-37-6.5 and Administrative Rule R156-37-402.
Renewal Instructions
Please note that this process is most effective when done on a computer, rather than a mobile device.
- Log in to My License One using your UtahID. If you do not have a UtahID, you will be directed to create an account.
- Once logged in, scroll down to the "Existing License/Registration Holders" section.
- If your license isn't listed there, click the "Don't see your license . . ." link.
- Search for your license using the details in your renewal notice (emailed to you 90 days before your expiration date).
- Once your license is listed, click on the three dots under the "Actions" column to start the renewal process.

Additional Information
- A receipt will be sent to the email address on file up to 2 business days after the payment is made.Â
- A copy of your license will be emailed to the email address on file 1-3 business days after approval.
- DOPL will send a renewal notice to the email address on file 90 days prior to the expiration date. Utah Code 58-1-301.7 requires you to notify DOPL of any change to your address or email address within 10 business days. You can update your information at any time by visiting My License One.
- Continuing to practice a profession after a license has expired is considered unlawful conduct and a criminal offense, per Utah Code 58-1-501(1)(a) and 58-1-502. DOPL may take disciplinary action for any period of time worked without a license, or for failing to meet renewal requirements, even after the license has been renewed or reinstated.
