ASPIRE Internships
Shape the Future of Utah’s Financial Integrity
The Advanced Securities Program for Investigation and Regulatory Excellence (ASPIRE) offers a unique opportunity for students to step beyond the classroom and into the heart of the Utah Division of Securities. As an intern, you will join a dedicated team of professionals tasked with regulating the securities industry and protecting the investing public while cultivating a healthy environment for capital formation. We aren't just looking for specific coursework; we are looking for students looking to make positive impacts for Utah investors, who take ownership of their work and want to gain hands-on experience in enforcement, compliance, or corporate finance.
Compliance
The Compliance Section serves as a preventative arm by conducting routine audits and sweep examinations of licensed firms. They verify record-keeping and ethical sales practices to reduce investor risk before misconduct occurs. This focus is ideal for students in risk management or internal audit.
Enforcement
The Enforcement Section actively investigates complaints and leads concerning violations of the Utah Uniform Securities Act, including various forms of securities fraud and Ponzi schemes . Staff collaborate with state and federal agencies to pursue administrative orders, civil lawsuits, or criminal referrals . This section benefits students pursuing careers in prosecution or forensic accounting .
Corporate Finance
This section administers the legitimate securities industry by managing the registration process for broker-dealers and investment advisers . They also review notice filings for capital formation offerings and collect state fees to ensure regulatory oversight . It is well-suited for students interested in investment banking or corporate law .

"We are looking for unique and special students to join us. If you have a constant desire to learn, a curious disposition, take ownership of every project assigned to you, and believe that the sum of a team is always greater than its individual parts, then you are exactly the type of person who will thrive here."
