Pathway to Utah Licensure for Internationally Trained Journeyman Electricians


Information for internationally trained electricians seeking licensure as a Journeyman Electrician in Utah with the Division of Professional Licensing (DOPL). To qualify, applicants must follow the steps outlined below. Please read carefully to ensure you understand all requirements.


Remediation & Apprentice License

If an applicant for licensure as a journeyman electrician does not have sufficient work experience or education, the applicant will be allowed to fulfill these requirements by completing one of the following:

  • Working under an employer or licensed supervisor as a licensed apprentice
  • Take remediation courses from an approved institution. For more information, please contact the ITAC team.

Appendix

Scope of Practice 58-55-102

(35) "Journeyman electrician" means a licensed journeyman electrician who has the qualifications, training, experience, and knowledge to wire, install, and repair electrical apparatus and equipment for light, heat, power, and other purposes.
