DOPL License Renewal Guide

All licensed professionals in Utah must renew their license to continue to practice their profession lawfully. Most licensees renew on a two-year cycle. Click "Renewal Cycle Schedule and Fees" on the left to find out when your license is due for renewal and the associated fees.

Instructions for Online License Renewal

DOPL has created renewal instructions that address the most common renewal issues to assist you with your renewal.

Most license types can follow the instructions found in the "General Renewal Instructions" tab.
Contractors, Accountants, and Preneed Funeral Arrangement Sales Agents have additional renewal steps, which are addressed in their respective tabs.

General DOPL Renewal Instructions

NEW UtahID Requirement: All licensees must have a UtahID account to access the renewal site. If you do not already have a UtahID, create an account at idhelp.utah.gov .
- If you have trouble creating or logging into UtahID, scroll down to the bottom of UtahID's page and contact UtahID directly. Do not contact UtahID with questions regarding your renewal, as they will be unable to assist you.
Gather the following:
- Your license number
- Your Registration Code (emailed to you 60-90 days prior to your renewal deadline)
- Debit/credit card
- Any documents required for renewal*
  - *Please note that not all licensees are required to upload documents for renewal. For instance, licensees are required to provide supporting documentation if they have new criminal history to disclose.
Link your license to your account: Go to utahdoc.mylicenseone.com and follow the directions under “Existing License Holders”. If your license is not already listed, click on “Don’t see your license? Click here to search for it.” to connect your license to your account.
Renew your license: On the homepage of utahdoc.mylicenseone.com , scroll down to “Existing License Holders”, find the license you need to renew, and click on the three dots under the “Action” line to begin the renewal process. Follow the online instructions to complete your license renewal.

If you are unable to find an answer, visit dopl.stage.utah.gov/licenses/, select your license type, and select “Contact Us” to contact your profession’s licensing team directly. We recommend using email for a quicker response.

Contractor Renewal Instructions

NEW UtahID Requirement: All licensees must have a UtahID account to access the renewal site. If you do not already have a UtahID, create an account at idhelp.utah.gov .
- If you have trouble creating or logging into UtahID, scroll down to the bottom of UtahID's page and contact UtahID directly. Do not contact UtahID with questions regarding your renewal, as they will be unable to assist you.
Gather the following:
- Your license number
- Your Registration Code (emailed to you 60-90 days prior to your renewal deadline)
- Debit/credit card
- An active Liability Insurance Certificate
  - To request a certificate, contact your insurance provider and ask for your current “Certificate of Insurance” that:
    - Is a .pdf version; and
    - has DOPL listed as the Certificate Holder with the address of 160 E 300 S, Salt Lake City, UT, 84111.
- Proof of Worker's Compensation Coverage
  - If you have employees or owner-workers owning less than 8%, you must:
    - Provide a certificate of Workers Compensation Insurance that has DOPL listed as the certificate holder with the address of 160 E 300 S, Salt Lake City, UT, 84111.
    - Provide registration numbers as proof of registration with the Utah Department of Workforce Services and the Utah State Tax Commission (a or b)
    - Supply proof of registration with the Utah Department of Workforce Services and the Utah State Tax Commission by providing the following information:
      - Registration with the Utah Department of Workforce services to set up Unemployment Insurance (UI) under the Business Registration prompt, registration #C__________________.
      - Utah State Tax Commission withholding Tax ID number (NOT sales tax withholdings), #_________________-WTH
    - Provide a copy of a signed contract with an APPROVED Professional Employer Organization (PEO) “Payroll Company”.
  - If you DO NOT have employees and don’t want Workers’ Compensation Coverage on yourself, you must provide:
    - Workers’ Compensation Coverage Waiver Certificate from the Utah Labor Commission
      - Things you might need to obtain a workers' compensation waiver:
        
        Copy of liability insurance certificate
        
        Copy of a business check
        
        Copy of a business card or some type of advertisement

CPA Renewal Instructions

Report your CPE to NASBA:
- DOPL partners with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) for CPE reporting. Make sure to upload your CPE to NASBA before starting your renewal online at cpeauditservice.nasba.org .

Preneed Funeral Arrangement Sales Agent Renewal Instructions

NEW UtahID Requirement: All licensees must have a UtahID account to access the renewal site. If you do not already have a UtahID, create an account at idhelp.utah.gov .

- Utah Department of Insurance license*
  - *You must provide a copy of your Utah Department of Insurance license only if you engage in the sale of any pre-need funeral arrangements funded in whole or in part by an insurance policy or product to be sold by the provider or the provider's sales agent.
