DOPL does offer an inactive status for some professional license types, such as contractors, engineers, private probation providers, etc. These select license types can place their license on inactive status at any time, as long as it is in good standing. Licensees will need to answer a general questionnaire, fill out an inactivation form, and pay an inactivation fee of $50.
You cannot practice your profession while your license is inactive. However, licensees with inactive licenses must still renew their licenses every two years. You may also reactivate an inactive license at any time via a similar process as inactivation (questionnaire, form, and fee).
Most professionals may use the Request for Inactive License Form to begin the process of moving a license from active to inactive.
Contractor licensees must use the Contractor License: Activate Inactive License Form to move their license to an inactive status.
